Becs Hadley is not pregnant! She’s just full of fibroids and whether she likes it or not, it’s time to talk about her … "down there". From London to New York, Becs carries her alien cargo from doctor to doctor and is surprised to discover that through losing her womb, she finds her pussy!
I wrote Her Downstairs as a response to having myomectomy surgery in 2018 to remove a 1 kilogram uterine fibroid, whom I had affectionately nicknamed Bruce Lee. I hadn't even heard of fibroids until six months prior, when a good friend also had a myomectomy. Since then, I've lost count of how many women I've met who have had full hysterectomies or myomectomies because of symptomatic uterine fibroids.
Her Downstairs is my way of encouraging a conversation about fibroids and reacquainting us with our lady bits.
Statistics range from one in three women getting fibroids, to up to 80% of us. Not every woman will have symptoms and not every woman will need surgery, but the fact remains that there is a fibroids epidemic and it needs talking about.
I believe that comedy is the best way to get to the heart of any topic and I hope you'll join this conversation.
